Work of Talcott Parsons

The work of Talcott Parsons is considered very influential in the field of sociology. This American sociologist is best known for his integration of all social sciences into a single subject, which he called human action. Talcott was considered a functionalist and worked closely with Bronislaw Malinowski.

The social system

The Social System is a book published by Talcott in 1951. In this text, he argued that homeostasis is an important feature of societies, just as it is an important feature of human beings. Parts of society are used to understand society as a whole under this model. Talcott also published 150 more books and articles, most of them relating to this concept.

Systemization

One of Talcott's main goals was to develop a type of social relation that was applicable to groups of all sizes. He was an admirer of the works of Max Weber on this matter. He published several articles on the topic. This was also the focus of his studies when he taught at Harvard University from 1927 until 1973. He was a central figure in the school's Social Relations Department and the department supported his notions of an integrated social science. He presented his grand theory that defined three main aspect of the social system which allow for a variety of personalities and interactions in 1963.
